If your staff has young children in group child care programs, encourage them NOT to take their children to a group environment. These are the last options only for the emergency. Whenever possible, staff should stay home with young children. The EEC is actively working to recruit educators to fill human resource centres if necessary. The family`s child care staff should work individually with their program. Providers must use the COVID-19 Essential Workforces list to determine a family`s eligibility. Emergency child care programs are open to provide emergency and relief child care to vulnerable families and members of important workers who have no choice. Parents and legal guardians who work from home are not prioritized for emergency care. In light of Governor Baker`s emergency order of March 23 on March 27, vulnerable children and children from families known as the COVID-19 Essential Workforces will receive priority access to emergency care, with a focus on health, public health and human services, as well as law enforcement, public safety and first aid. In order to slow the spread of the coronavirus, all families should keep children as far away as possible from group care. Prior to the suspension of licensed child care on Sunday, March 22, 2020, the EEC worked closely with DCF to identify cases where DCF children need child care, including cases with the highest risk or in emergency situations where there are no other options for group child care. The EEC and DCF have worked hand in hand to put these critical cases into approved emergency programs.
DCF officials worked with families to make alternative arrangements where possible during the public health crisis. Families participating in DCF or providers currently caring for children involved in DCF should contact the administrator directly to support the planning of these children at this critical time. We encourage all of our programs to be flexible in collecting registration fees during this time. The government provides financial assistance programs to small businesses, including child care, that can help programs provide this flexibility. At this stage, we are using all EEC resources to set up emergency care within the provision of emergency care, to assist vulnerable children and children from families who must work to maintain the health, safety and well-being of all Commonwealth citizens. Interested claimants or employers who wish to find only childcare solutions for a given job can complete the online application here and are contacted by UNECE staff upon request. Funding for emergency child care programs is not intended to cover the full cost of operating an emergency child care program.
The aim is to reduce the tax burden of programmes that have progressed and are associated with the UNECE to help families cope with this unprecedented global health crisis. The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) will offer a package based on the authorized capacity of the program. The price is not adapted to the actual number of children in care. Children`s resources and referments (CRC &R) will be distributed to programmes on behalf of the UNECE. Instructions regarding CCR&R funding applications will be included in your notification of emergency child care program approval….
